Accountant

Company Name: Precision Management Consulting
Hours: Full time
Salary: £45,000 a year

Job Description

About Precision

Precision Management Consulting helps owner-managed businesses improve profitability, cash flow, and operational performance. We combine strong financial insight with hands-on business advisory, helping clients move from understanding the numbers to acting on them.

We are now building an accountancy wing within Precision to support recurring client needs (management accounts, compliance, financial reporting) and to act as the foundation for our higher-value advisory work.

We are looking for a full time Practice Manager to run and develop this accountancy function.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for running the day-to-day accountancy operation within Precision. You will oversee client delivery across management accounts and core accounting services, ensure high standards of quality and compliance, and act as the operational lead for the accountancy side of the business.

You will work closely with the founder, who focuses on advisory, strategy, and client growth, while you take ownership of delivery, systems, and client service within the accountancy function.

This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who wants responsibility, autonomy, and influence, without the pressure of owning their own practice.

Key Responsibilities

Accountancy Practice Management

  • Run the day-to-day operations of the accountancy wing within Precision.
  • Own workflows, deadlines, and quality standards across accounting and management accounts.
  • Ensure services are delivered accurately, consistently, and on time.
  • Help define and refine service offerings, pricing structures, and delivery processes.

Financial & Management Accounting

  • Oversee preparation and review of management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and cash flow reports.
  • Ensure financial information is robust, meaningful, and decision-useful for clients.
  • Act as senior reviewer and technical lead for financial outputs.

Client Leadership

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for accountancy clients.
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and confidently to non-financial business owners.
  • Support clients in understanding what their numbers mean in practice.

Advisory Enablement

  • Translate financial data into insights that support business decision-making.
  • Work alongside the advisory team to identify issues around margin, cash flow, and operational performance.
  • Support the transition from “accounts produced” to “actions agreed”.

Systems, Process & Compliance

  • Improve and document internal systems, controls, and processes.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance standards are followed (with external support where required).
  • Liaise with external accountants, tax specialists, or regulatory bodies as needed.

Experience and skills Required

About You

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in practice or a senior finance role.
  • Strong background in financial accounts
  • Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility for a function.
  • Confident working directly with business owners.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple clients and priorities.
  • Interested in building and shaping something, not just “doing the work”.
  • Holding a practising certificate is essential.

What We Offer

  • Senior, trusted role with real influence over how the accountancy function is built.
  • Part-time hours with flexibility and scope to increase over time.
  • Opportunity to work closely with business owners across a wide range of sectors.
  • A clear path to becoming the long-term lead for the accountancy wing of Precision.
  • A collaborative, professional environment focused on doing meaningful work well.
